bottle of ProzymeProzyme is a plant-derived enzyme supplement which replaces the natural enzymes that are lost in food processing. It helps digest protein, fat, sugar, starch, and fiber. It enhances the absorption of zinc, selenium, vitamin B6, and linoleic acid. Prozyme contains various enzymes including proteases to break down proteins into amino acids, cellulases to break down digestible fiber, amylases to break down carbohydrates into sugar, and lipases to break down fat into essential fatty acids. Because of the increase in digestibility of the food, amounts fed may need to be decreased to prevent weight gain.

Prozyme may increase the absorption of certain medications such as potassium bromide and phenobarbital.

According to the manufacturer, Prozyme increases absorption of the nutrients in the food. Prozyme works in the body once the food is ingested (after mixing the Prozyme with the food; it is not necessary to let the mixture stand before feeding). By increasing the nutrient intake from the diet, Prozyme is reported to help with immune and digestive disorders, poor coat and excessive shedding, skin problems, joint disorders, weight problems, allergies, lethargy, bloating, flatulence, and coprophagia (stool eating).

Prozyme is resistant to stomach acid. Store Prozyme in a cool, dry location away from excessive heat. Do NOT use with hot gravy or hot food.
